Manresa Grotto

When life gives you a rainy day go for the hike anyways. It has been wet and grey for the last couple of weeks and we all were getting a little bit of cabin fever. Whenever I’m feeling in a funk I like to open up Google maps and explore until something neat pops up. This led us to hit the road and check out the Manresa Grotto. This small cave system is just north of Usk, on the Kalispel Indian Reservation. The site has a covered picnic area, perfect for a rainy day. The trail to the cave is less than a mile but once you get to the entrance to the grotto there is plenty to explore. After making sure the cave was free of dragons the girls had a lot of fun exploring the rock formations with their headlamps. There was water streaming down from the inside of the grotto which made a lovely but earie sound. After exploring the Manresa Grotto we headed back down the trail for hot coco and snacks before the drive home. Getting out of your house does not always have to be an epic adventure, sometimes it’s fun to just look at Google maps and drive to a neat point of interest.
