It’s the time of year for cheer and giving. I believe that non-traditional gift giving should be normalized. For example, handmade and second hand gifts. In that spirit the following DIY play dough is one of my favorite things to make at home with the girls and it can also make a great gift! You can even add cinnamon to the play dough to make it smell extra seasonal. Package the play dough in its own cute container and find some accessories at the thrift store and it’s good to go!
Homemade play dough recipe-
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup salt
- 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 2 cups lukewarm water
- 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil (coconut oil works too)
- 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
Mix the dry ingredients together then add in the water and oil, mixing until a dough starts to form. Once the play dough starts to come together, I like to dump it out on the kitchen counter and knead it all into a ball. If the play dough is too sticky add a little flour. Enjoy!
