Summer Road Trip

There is something about a summer road trip that makes you feel like you are in your early 20s again. Windows down, the air rushing past and lifting your unbound hair into a summer crown. The feeling of freedom and the promise of adventure, even with two small passengers in the backseat calling for snacks every 20 minutes. Like many things in our life, road trips look different with kids. The road part of a road trip is a lot of fun but it’s even better when your destination includes spending time with family. On this particular trip our landing place my sister in law’s, who lives at the southern end of the Olympic peninsula. We enjoyed a weekend of lush forest walks and briny coastal views. We also had a sushi lunch, quite a treat when we currently live at least an hour from a decent sushi joint. Finally on our way back home we made a pit stop to see a real Hobbit house! Road trips may look different now, however “different” is just an opportunity to find new ways to have fun.
